Description:

Digital media is a form of electronic media where data is stored in digital (as opposed to analog) form. It can refer to the technical aspect of storage and transmission (e.g. hard disk drives or computer networking) of information or to the "end product", such as digital video, augmented reality or digital art.

Best Practices: Using technology to enhance content - not just for the sake of technology. Making content applicable. Choosing the best technology for assignments and projects.

Examples: digital cameras, document cameras, flip cameras, podcasts, audio, gaming, e-readers, computers/laptops, TVs, cell phones, Wii, Kindle, Nook, and the list goes on...

How would you use it? video science experiments, modeling, add "real live" lessons to Moodle (absent students, student review, enrichment, parent review)

Challenges: cost, availability, technical difficulties, all media in sync, everyday "wear and tear", training for teachers,

Reflection: There needs to be a balance between use of technology and good teaching practices.
